Drilling in harsh environments where hydrogen sulfide, high temperatures and pressures are encountered dictates that tubulars must be suitable for critical application to protect lives, property and equipment. When H2S is present it is critical that drill pipe is protected against hydrogen embrittlement.

Specially selected and tested materials are the only sure way to make sure sour service wells are drilled safely and efficiently. Roschen provides proprietary sour service material that is manufactured to exacting standards and tested in accordance with NACE MR0175 and Canadian IRP 1.8 sour service specifications.

Careful control of the heat treating process is utilized to assure that optimal metallurgical quality, uniformity and sour service resistance is attained. All products are Method A tested in strict conformance with NACE TM0177 in a 100% H2S (NACE Solution A) solution. All products meet the stringent requirements of NACE MR0175 (ISO 15156) and Canadian Specification IRP 1.8 providing confidence to the Drilling Engineer and assuring environmental cracking (Sulfide Stress Cracking-SSC) is mitigated.

From the standpoint of safety and tubular metallurgical integrity, sour gas environments are one of the most challenging operations encountered while drilling. Roschen utilizes special chemistry tubulars and extensive testing to assure optimal resistance to Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) and mitigate brittle fracture of the drill string components.
